Going to the movies was a big part of our lives. There were three basic levels of movie going: 1.) The entire family dressing up, driving downtown, dinner at a fancy restaurant and then seeing a blockbuster at the Lyric Theater on the Circle, 2.) Friends would meet at either the Pixy or Speedway Theaters to see the Saturday Matinee, or 3.) Those lucky enough to have their Driver’s Licenses looked forward to a date at one of the three popular Drive-ins (Westlake, Clermont, Lafayette Road) on Friday and/or Saturday nights (those without a license or no car would “double date”). |

A couple of dollars would get you a ticket to The Blob, a coke and box of popcorn at the Pixy or Speedway Theater. |
